Liverpool finish off their Europa League Group B campaign with a clash against FC Sion in Switzerland on Thursday night. The Reds have already secured their qualification for the knockout phase following the 2-1 victory over Bordeaux last time out. Sion on the other hand needs a draw to go through.
Liverpool needs a point to guarantee top spot in UEFA Europa League Group B. Even though The Reds are unbeaten, they have drawn three of their five games played. In their last five games, Liverpool have only scored six goals.
As for the Sion, they will also be satisfied with the draw here as they are level on the head to head with Rubin. What this simply means is that if Rubin wins then the Swiss outfit have to get at least a point to guarantee that they are the ones moving to the next round with Liverpool. Interesting fact is that they are one of just five clubs to ever have scored three goals in European fixture at Anfield.
Sion have scored five and conceded five in Group B so far. They go into this match in poor form having lost their last three games in all competitions and having won just one of their last six.A draw would be ideal for the both sides. But Liverpool will want to bounce back after their defeat against Newcastle and Sion aren’t in the kind of form to be going out and winning matches at will.
