Inter will be looking to make it a sixth straight league win as they take on struggling Palermo on Sunday afternoon.
The Nerazzurri have been in inspired form as of late. Including their recent Coppa Italia win over Bologna – and a consolation Europa League group stage win in December – Stefano Pioli’s men have won seven games on the trot across all competitions. Will they be able to make it eight on Sunday? The last time Inter lost a game was when they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Napoli. And now, fans are dreaming again of a push for a European football spot. Coming into this tie, Inter sit in sixth spot, with 36 points, and earned a well-deserved 3-1 win over Chievo.
They will have one eye on the results from the Milan-Napoli tie, especially considering that the Rossoneri, who have a game in hand, sit one point ahead in fifth. Meanwhile, as they continue their push for European football, Palermo are struggling to stay afloat. The Rosanero thought they had turned a corner as they earned four points from their final two games of 2016. That included an impressive 4-3 win over Genoa, which marked the first time they had scored so many goals in one game.
However, since the start of 2017, things have again gone awry for the Sicilian side. They have lost two in a row. And whilst those were on the road, Palermo cannot exactly claim that they have a home pitch advantage. In fact, the Rosanero still have not won a single game at the Stadio Renzo Barbera all season. Their best result so far? A draw. That means they have picked up one point out of a possible 27 this far this term.
